Introduction

The Name

From the website, genealogy.about.com:

A descriptive surname often bestowed on someone who was of short or petite stature, the LITTLE surname comes from the Old English "lytel," meaning little.

The family's roots

The earliest Little ancestor that I have found so far is George Little, born in 1859 in London.

Free Settlers

Many of the Little descendants arrived in Australia as free settlers or assisted immigrants.

These include William Bolingbroke and his family, and Nils Johanson - ironically both arrived in Queensland in 1873, though on different ships.
